From humble beginnings at a YMCA camp to becoming one of Princeton’s most respected law firms, Mason, Griffin & Pierson, P.C. has built its reputation on integrity, service, and lasting partnerships. Our history reflects decades of dedication to our clients and community.

Early 1930s

Ralph Mason Meets Gordon Griffin

Ralph Mason and Gordon Griffin first met at a YMCA camp on the Delaware River, where Mason was a counselor and Griffin a camper. This meeting would lay the foundation for a lifelong professional relationship.

1948

The Beginning of a Professional Partnership

Ralph Mason and Gordon Griffin began working together professionally when Griffin joined Montgomery and Mason, a law firm located in the First National Bank building at Witherspoon and Nassau Streets in Princeton, New Jersey.

Formation of Mason & Griffin

The partnership of Mason & Griffin was officially formed, marking the start of the firm’s independent practice.

1955–1956

Growth and Expansion

Shortly after forming Mason & Griffin, Hervey Moore joined the firm, which became Mason, Griffin & Moore. In 1956, Kester Pierson joined as a law clerk, later becoming a partner in 1965.

1973

The Firm Becomes Mason, Griffin & Pierson

Following Hervey Moore’s appointment as a judge, the firm’s name changed to Mason, Griffin & Pierson, honoring its three principal partners.

1985

New Home at 101 Poor Farm Road

After moving between several Nassau Street locations, the firm established its permanent offices at 101 Poor Farm Road, where it continues to serve clients today.

Present Day

Continuing a Tradition of Service

Now with more than a dozen attorneys, Mason, Griffin & Pierson, P.C. continues to lead in the legal profession and local community. Its attorneys are active in numerous bar associations, municipal law organizations, and civic groups such as Big Brothers Big Sisters, Rotary, and the YMCA.
